Just two hours north of Los Angeles, Ojai makes for a great weekend or day trip. As someone who grew up in Ojai, I have spent years photographing the epic landscapes that surround the city in every season.
You don’t need a fancy camera to capture some Instagram worthy shots. Here are a few of my favorite locations, with examples:
Highway 33

If you follow Highway 33 right outside of Ojai, you are sure to capture some great shots. Driving for just twenty minutes will lead you to incredible vistas with seemingly endless mountain ranges. From late winter to early summer many varieties of wild flowers bloom right along the highway, including my personal favorite the Matilija Poppy.
Rose Valley

Rose Valley is a wonderful place to visit for a couple hours or camp at for a couple of days. If there has been enough rainfall, there are a couple of small swimming holes. You can also go on a short hike to Rose Valley Falls, or visit some the beautiful local rock formations.
Ojai Valley Land Conservancy Ventura River Preserve

These trails are great for hikers or runners of any level. The trails are mostly flat and if you are lucky, you may run into some of the horses that are housed near by.
Enjoy your time in Ojai, if you’d like to recommend any other Ojai spots or have any questions about what I have written, comment below.
